Defence Export Permits

Items that are export controlled, as indicated on their associated product pages, require an Defence export permit.

This permit can take up to 10-12 days to be processed and approved. Once the permit has successfully been accepted and issued, the devices or parts are then shipped via Australia Post.

Regulated Item Disclaimer -

Customers acknowledge that when they purchase a regulated item, it will not be shipped until an export permit is granted by the Defence Export Controls Office.

During this time, if a customer requests a refund, a restocking fee will be charged, unless there are special circumstances that apply.

Shipping Method

All of our items are shipped via Tracked Australia Post Express.

Shipping Insurance

Extra Cover (Insurance) provides loss or damage cover up to the specified value of your item (up to $5,000AUD) while it’s being carried by Australia Post.

Insurance, by default, is at $100 AUD. Extra Insurance cover is $2.50AUD for each subsequent $100 of cover (above $100 included cover) up to $5000.

Shipping Security Disclaimer

Due to the sensitive and expensive nature of our Thermal and Night Vision Systems, we ship our products with a Signature Required-On Delivery without exception.

This enables us to confirm receipt of the item by the customer and ensures that they have received their item via courier.

Additionally, as an extra security measure, our packages are fitted with tamper-evident security seals to prevent unauthorized access during transit.

In the event that suspected unauthorized tampering occurs during transit (excluding Government/ Customs screening), the incident should be promptly reported to the shipping carrier AND to the Nocturnal Optics Team in full detail via email at admin@nocturnalopticsau.com for further investigation. 

Taxes

Nocturnal Optics does not cover import taxes and customs duties. Any applicable taxes and duties are the sole responsibility of the importing party and must be fully paid by them.

We kindly request that customers familiarize themselves with their local tax regulations and requirements prior to making a purchase.

Lead Times and Pre-Orders

Pre-order or items with a lead time have their wait times clearly stated on the product pages.

Special Order Items as indicated on some of our product pages incur a standard Lead time and are shipped 4-6 weeks after purchasing.

Warranty

Lifetime Warranty Disclaimer - Nocturnal Optics Manufactured Products

All items manufactured by Nocturnal Optics come standard with a Lifetime Warranty. Please read through this warranty carefully. 

This means that if any component of your housing, which is originally manufactured and supplied by Nocturnal Optics, needs replacement at any point during the lifespan of the product, we will provide a new component free of charge (excluding shipping fees on behalf of the customer).

We prioritize customer satisfaction and want you to feel confident in purchasing our products. Therefore, we ensure that you are covered even if you accidentally drop your night vision device or it experiences a heavy impact resulting in housing breakage.

Our warranty covers such incidents and guarantees replacement for any housing component. It is important to note that this warranty also applies to second-hand purchases. Even if you bought a housing from someone else, as long as it is originally manufactured and supplied by Nocturnal Optics, it is still covered under our warranty.

No purchase order is needed for warranty claims on second-hand products.

IMPORTANT: This warranty specifically excludes damages to lenses or intensifier tubes. For any issues or damages related to these parts, you will need to contact us separately for further assistance.

Furthermore, please be aware that items not manufactured by Nocturnal Optics are not covered under this warranty.

If you have purchased other retail items that are not OEM by Nocturnal Optics, we recommend contacting the original manufacturer for their specific warranty information.

Returns

Australian Orders - Return Policy Disclaimer

Our returns policy is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, as we want you to be satisfied with your purchase.

International Orders - Return Policy Disclaimer

You will not be entitled to a refund for the cost of the item or postage and handling if you do not receive your order due to one of the following:

  1. Your order is not collected, or
  2. Your order is rejected at the border, or
  3. Your order is returned to sender, or
  4. Fees or duties are not paid by you

IMPORTANT: Certain items may be restricted in your country and may be withheld at the border. We are unable to remain across every countries import requirements and it is your responsibility to ensure that what you order will be able to clear customs.

Warranties may not apply for certain goods purchased for use outside of Australia, except where required by Australian law.

Change of Mind Returns

If you have changed your mind about your order, we are happy to offer you an exchange or refund provided that:

  1. The items are returned within 7 days of delivery.
  2. You can show your original receipt, online tax invoice or other adequate proof of purchase at the time you return the items;
  3. The items have not been used or damaged in any way including that:
  • They are in their original packaging including manuals, pamphlets and all accessories; and/or
  • They are unopened, unused and in their original saleable condition;

Where an item is eligible for a refund, we will refund the price of the item to your original payment method. Shipping costs for the order and return will not be refunded.

Online orders must be returned by mail only. Return delivery address details will be shared as your return is processed.

Any items returned that don’t comply with our change of mind returns policy are unable to be refunded.

Other Returns

We will accept returns and provide you with a refund, exchange or repair where the product is:

  1. Is faulty or is not of acceptable quality, or
  2. Significantly different to those shown or described to you, or
  3. Not fit for its intended purpose, or
  4. Unsafe.

Where an item is eligible for a refund of this kind, we will refund the price of the item as well as any associated shipping costs to your original payment method.
